Head of OSCE Presence in Albania discusses rule of law, combatting organized crime with General Prosecutor
On 6 February 2013, the Head of the OSCE Presence in Albania, Ambassador Eugen Wollfarth, met with General Prosecutor Adriatik Llalla to discuss the fight against organized crime and corruption, and the pivotal role of the Prosecutor’s office in strengthening the rule of law.
“Fight against organized crime, including trans-border crime, and corruption is key to ensuring stability in the country, the region and at the global level,” Wollfarth said. “Delivering well-reasoned, appropriate verdicts in corruption cases involving senior officials would be a positive measure to demonstrate political resolve and restore public confidence in the judiciary.”
Wollfarth assured Llalla that the OSCE Presence as part of its overall goal to promote the rule of law and human rights and consolidate democratic institutions will continue to support and assist the General Prosecutor’s Office.
