TIRANA, 17 July 2013 – Ambassador Florian Raunig of Austria has been appointed as the new Head of the OSCE Presence in Albania, the Ukrainian OSCE Chairmanship announced today. He will assume his duties on 1 October 2013.
Ambassador Raunig was born in 1967 in Basel, Switzerland. He is a career diplomat and served previously as Austrian Ambassador to Albania and to Montenegro. He studied political science, philosophy and law and graduated at the University of Vienna. He speaks fluent Albanian, English, French and Italian, and is married with two daughters.
Until October 2013, Deputy Head Robert Wilton will remain acting head of the OSCE Presence.
