OSCE Project Co-ordinator promotes professional information services in Uzbekistan
From 21 to 23 November 2011 the OSCE Project Co-ordinator in Uzbekistan, held a training seminar to enhance the skills of officials in the information services of state agencies and public organizations. The event was organized in co-operation with the Public Fund for Support and Development of Independent Print Media and News Agencies of Uzbekistan and the International In-service Training Centre for Journalists.
This seminar is part of the OSCE Project Co-ordinator’s ongoing capacity-building project for the information services of Uzbekistan’s state administration agencies and civil society organizations.
The training was delivered by experts from Germany and the US. Representatives of the press services of ministries and state agencies of Uzbekistan learned about the interaction between state information services and mass media outlets, internal and external communication and managing an information service.
Participants were able to improve their skills in conducting press conferences, organizing of press pools, roundtable discussions and debates. The seminar also focused on the use of new information technologies in public relations.
In his opening speech, Ambassador Istvan Venczel, the OSCE Project Co-ordinator in Uzbekistan, focused on the importance of developing the knowledge and professional skills of press services officials in line with new information technologies.
