OSCE promotes human rights protection though improving standards of judicial education in Ukraine
An international conference on safeguarding human rights through national standards for judicial education was co-organized by the OSCE Project Co-ordinator in Ukraine on 18 December 2015 in Kyiv, bringing together local judges, judges of the European Court of Human Rights, experts, and representatives of academia, international organizations and national NGOs.
Participants exchanged experiences in implementing standards of human rights protection in courts as well as best international practices of judicial education.
Perspectives for enhancing the capacity of judges and human rights protection through applying the European Convention on Human Rights and the case-law of the European Court of Human Rights were also discussed.
The event was organized by the OSCE Project Co-ordinator as part of its safeguarding human rights through the courts project (implemented with the financial support of the government of Canada), in conjunction with the School of Judges of Ukraine and the joint project of the European Union and the Council of Europe on strengthening the Implementation of European Human Rights standards in Ukraine.
