OSCE Centre in Dushanbe promotes business skills among young people in Central Asia
KAYRAKKUM, Tajikistan, 8 August 2006 - Young people are developing entrepreneurship and business leadership skills during an economic summer camp organized by the OSCE Centre in Dushanbe and run by Junior Achievement, an international NGO that seeks to inspire students to value free enterprise.
The 8-22 August 15-day summer camp brings together 120 participants from the Central Asian republics of Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Kyrgyzstan in the "Zuhal" resort sanatorium on the picturesque shore of Kayrakkum reservoir near Khujand.
"During the summer camp, participants will be educated and inspired to value free enterprise, understand the basic principles of business and economics, enhance their civil responsibilities, and develop access to information using the Internet," said Bess Brown, Economic Officer of the OSCE Centre in Dushanbe.
"Energetic young people will live in a model state with a market economy, where they will privatize state-owned enterprises, establish their own ventures and earn real money," added Dr. Ayubjon Yussoupov, Head of Junior Achievement Tajikistan, explaining the role-playing nature of the camp. "Our goal is to develop business-type thinking and promote entrepreneurship skills among young people. These skills will open up more economic opportunities for the young people and help them start their own businesses".
This is the third economic summer camp held by the OSCE Centre together with Junior Achievement.
