OSCE trains Tajik border troops on leadership and operational management
DUSHANBE, 30 October 2015 – Twenty officers from the Tajik Border Troops completed a three-week training course on leadership and operational management today at the OSCE Office in Tajikistan.
The participants, ranked from lieutenant to major, mainly came from the Tajik green border detachments with Afghanistan. Having completed basic four-week courses on patrolling and leadership, they will be engaged as trainers in future advanced courses.
The training course covered operational planning, the decision-making process, observation techniques and communication as well as ambush planning followed by practical exercises. The training was organized to introduce appropriate case studies and best practices, to raise awareness and promote a more efficient system of leadership and operational management. This course was delivered by an international expert with experience in management, risk assessment and operational planning.
“The Office in Tajikistan is building the capacity of the Tajik border and security agencies by developing their leadership and operational management skills, in order to be well co-ordinated and professional. The training course is part of the successful implementation of the Tajik National Border Management Strategy," said the Head of the OSCE Office in Tajikistan, Ambassador Markus Mueller.
The event is one of the Border Management Unit’s activities this year and forms part of a series of training courses aimed at developing the capacity of Tajik border-related agencies.
