OSCE trains Tajik law enforcement officers on operational crisis management

DUSHANBE, 3 April 2015 – Twenty-six officers from Tajik law enforcement agencies completed today a week-long OSCE training course in Dushanbe on operational crisis management. The training was held in the Institute for Advanced Studies of the Customs Service under the Government of Tajikistan. 

Officers from the Tajik border troops, Tajik Customs Service, Committee of Emergency Situation and the Interior Ministry learned about the characteristics and principles of crisis management and risk management concepts. The training also covered identifying a crisis and decision-making processes, business continuity planning and international disaster programmes. The training was delivered by a crisis management expert from CEDARthree Limited, London.

“The Office in Tajikistan is helping to build the capacity of Tajik border and security agencies by developing their operational crisis management skills in order to be well co-ordinated and professional during times of crisis,” said the Head of the OSCE Office in Tajikistan Ambassador Markus Mueller.

The training course was conducted as part of the Tajik National Border Management Strategy. It is one in a series of training courses aimed at developing the capacity of Tajik border-related agencies within the Border Management Unit’s activities this year.
