OSCE Mission in Skopje brings communities together through books

SKOPJE, 23 January 2004 - An exhibition consisting of more than 900 books opened today at the Tane Georgievski National Library in the city of Kumanovo, after the OSCE Spillover Monitor Mission to Skopje donated money to buy a selection of books in Macedonian, Albanian and Serbo-Croatian for the municipal library.
"The OSCE has been working with the library in Kumanovo to further develop it as a place where all the residents of the municipality can pursue their love of reading," said Stephanie Grepo, the OSCE Confidence Building Officer in the Kumanovo Field Station.
The OSCE Spillover Monitor Mission to Skopje donated 2,500 euros to the city of Kumanovo to buy the books and make the library a community focus, where people of all ethnic background, would be welcome.
In addition, the Mission donated 2,500 euros to the Lipkovo High School book initiative. A book exhibition is expected to take place in Lipkovo High School next week.
