OSCE Mission in Skopje welcomes EU forces

SKOPJE, 1 April 2003 - The Head of the OSCE Spillover Monitor Mission to Skopje, Ambassador Craig Jenness, welcomed the European Union military force (EUFOR) that took over the monitor and support operation from NATO yesterday.
He expressed his conviction that EUFOR will fulfill its mandate effectively and professionally, ensuring continuity in all aspects.
"I am sure that EUFOR will meet the very high standards set by NATO in assisting this country on its road to lasting stability, prosperity, and European and Euro-Atlantic integration," Ambassador Jenness said. "I look forward to working with the EUFOR Commander, Major General Pierre Maral, and to very good co-operation between the OSCE Mission and EUFOR".
He also thanked the NATO troops, the leaders and the soldiers, for the tremendous work and great success, and emphasized the OSCE's readiness to continue the strong relationship with the continuing NATO presence.
