SKOPJE, 15 May 2007 - Around 100 municipal and central level officials discussed how to improve the efficiency of public administration in implementing the administrative procedure to better satisfy citizens' needs at a conference in Skopje today.
This initiative of the State Administrative Inspectorate was supported by the OSCE Spillover Monitor Mission to Skopje.
"This is a good opportunity to strengthen ties between central and local governments, and could help implement the Law on General Administrative Procedure," said Philipp Stiel, the Head of the OSCE Mission's Public Administration Reform Unit.
"A proper enforcement of administrative procedures is an important factor in enhancing the transparency of the administration, and will aid the main beneficiaries of the decentralization process - the citizens."
Dimitar Gjeorgjievski, the Director of the State Administrative Inspectorate, added: "Encouraging partnership through education and co-operation can contribute to successfully implementing the decentralization process."
