OSCE Mission to Skopje supports opening of press centre within Public Prosecution Office
The first press centre within the State Public Prosecution Office was opened in Skopje today, 3 December 2015, with the support of the OSCE Mission to Skopje. The centre aims to assist the Public Prosecution in developing its capacity to establish a sustainable and transparent approach towards the media and the general public.
The centre will have a multifunctional purpose with a primary role to serve as a place for media communication, press briefings and interviews with prosecutors.
“The publicity and transparency of the work of the prosecution is an essential element in ensuring public trust,” said Marianne Berecz, Deputy Head of the OSCE Mission to Skopje. “Timely, structured and accurate information regarding the ongoing activities of the prosecution offices, while respecting the principle of presumption of innocence, increases the trust among the citizens.”
The centre will also serve as an educational and training facility for the public prosecutors on public relations, and as an operational library for the Prosecution Office staff.
