OSCE Mission to Skopje supports anti-corruption efforts
As part of the OSCE-supported project promoting anti-corruption measures, a high level conference titled “Requirements and Practice in the Implementation of the UN Convention Against Corruption (UNCAC) Provisions on Prevention and Asset Recovery” took place in Skopje on 27 November 2014.
The conference, organized by the State Commission for Prevention of Corruption and supported by the OSCE Mission to Skopje, aimed at strengthening the capacity of the institutions to implement anti-corruption policies and meet the requirements of the UNCAC.
Some 50 participants, representing foreign anti-corruption bodies, United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime, national institutions, civil society organizations, OSCE missions in the region, and international organizations discussed and exchanged views on the state-of-the art tools used in leading the anti-corruption policies.
“It is exceptionally relevant to keep the attention of the national institutions and public on the anti-corruption activities, but also to share experiences and challenges from other countries. Commitment and co-operation on anti-corruption measures on national and international level are main prerequisites for efficient prevention and fight against corruption, including preventive measures and confiscation of corrupt assets,” said Ioana Cosma, Acting Head of Human Dimension Department at the OSCE Mission to Skopje.
