Swedish police officer appointed top OSCE police adviser
VIENNA, 4 August 2010 - The OSCE Secretary General, Marc Perrin de Brichambaut, announced today the appointment of Knut Dreyer from Sweden as the Organization's new Senior Police Adviser. Mr. Dreyer will be seconded to the OSCE by the Swedish Government and will take up this post on 30 August 2010.
"I look forward to working with Mr. Dreyer. His experience in leading police reform in former conflict zones will be invaluable to the OSCE," said the Secretary General. "In addition, his in-depth insight into the policing activities of international organizations such as the OSCE, the UN and the EU will serve him well in his new post."
Mr. Dreyer was the OSCE's police reform adviser in Kyrgyzstan from 2007 to 2008 and the Head of the Police Affairs Unit in the OSCE Mission to Croatia from 2005 to 2007. In his latest post as the programme officer for bilateral development with the Swedish National Police Board, he was responsible for projects in Serbia, Rwanda and South Africa. He has over 20 years of experience as a senior police officer.
