OSCE Mission to Serbia supports opening of information centre, library for police trainees
An interactive information centre and a library established with the support of the OSCE Mission to Serbia opened in the Basic Police Training Centre in Sremska Kamenica on 3 August 2012.
The library contains several hundred books on law enforcement, criminal law, forensics, human rights, ethics and other topics; users will also have access to the national virtual library and worldwide library resources. In addition to renovating the library, the project also provides equipment to the Curriculum Development Unit of the Basic Police Training Centre.
“These resources will help to train police officers in Serbia and link the Basic Police Training Centre with other professional libraries,” said Paula Thiede, Acting Head of the OSCE Mission to Serbia. “The new interactive library will support the Serbian police in further developing and enhancing their skills by providing quick and easy access to professional information sources.”
The 300,000-euro project was funded by Norway and implemented with the support of the OSCE Mission to Serbia. The Mission will continue monitoring and assisting further development of basic police training in the country.
