OSCE Mission helps improve emergency management and disaster response in Serbia
A three-day simulation exercise on emergency management for representatives of municipal emergency headquarters from Nova Varos, Prijepolje and Priboj took place from 21 to 23 March 2012 in Zlatibor. It was organized by the OSCE Mission to Serbia in partnership with the Sector for Emergency Management of the Serbian Interior Ministry.
Participants learned about a model for government response in situations of natural disasters, aimed at increasing multi-sector coordination on the local level. Trainers from the National Emergency Training Centre also enhanced their skills in delivering training to local level actors in charge of disaster response management.
The simulation exercise was held for some 50 participants under the supervision of the trainers from the National Emergency Training Centre. The Mission will continue investing efforts in this area through another simulation, envisaged for September 2012.
