To mark the decade of the Mission's presence in the country, on Monday, 16 May the OSCE Mission to Serbia is organizing a conference on the partnership between Serbia and the OSCE.
The Conference, titled “Working for Democracy and Security. Serbia and the OSCE: 10 Years of Partnership”, will gather the Mission’s partners from Serbia’s government and civil society to reflect upon the impact of the Mission’s programmes on reforms implemented in Serbia in the past ten years. The Conference will be hosted by the current Head of Mission Ambassador Dimitrios Kypreos and Sonja Licht, the head of the Belgrade Fund of Political Excellence, which is co-organizing the event.
The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Serbia, Vuk Jeremic; the OSCE Secretary General, Mark Perrin de Brichambaut; the Chairperson of the OSCE Permanent Council, Ambassador Renatas Norkus; and Ambassador Kypreos will speak at the opening session.
Former heads of the Mission, Ambassador Hans Ola Urstad (2006-2009) and Ambassador Stefano Sannino (2001-2002) will trace the Mission’s development and speak as guests of honour during the keynote panel.
Thematic panels will feature discussions on the key goals of the Mission, covering building of security and stability, developing a culture of inclusion, enhancing the work of the justice sector, reforming the police and supporting the media in transition.
