OSCE Mission welcomes Italy-Serbia co-operation in fighting organized crime

BELGRADE, 12 July 2004 - The OSCE Mission to Serbia and Montenegro today welcomed the signing of an agreement between the National Anti-Mafia Bureau of Italy and the Office of the Prosecutor General of Serbia, together with the Organized Crimes Prosecutor's Office.
"The Memorandum of Understanding significantly contributes to the promotion of regional co-operation in fighting organized crime and money laundering," said Ilias Chatzis, the Head of the mission's Rule of Law Department.
He added that the OSCE Mission will continue to support co-operation and the exchange of information and ideas between these institutions, which are crucial in the fight against organized crime.
The signing ceremony took place on Friday, 9 July, at the Special Court for Organized Crime in Belgrade.
