OSCE Mission to monitor investigation into 1999 bombing of Serb state media station
BELGRADE 10 August 2001
BELGRADE, 10 August 2001 (OSCE) - Representatives of the OSCE Mission to the Federal Republic of Yugoslavia met with relatives of two victims of the 1999 Radio Televizija Srbije (RTS) bombing in Aberdareva Street, Zivana Stojanovic and Kuzman Stojmenovski, in order to hear their concerns about the ongoing investigation into Dragoljub Milanovic, the former general director of RTS, for the death of 16 of his employees.
The relatives expressed their dissatisfaction with the conduct so far of Yugoslav and Serbian authorities responsible for the investigation and prosecution of Mr. Milanovic and other persons considered responsible for not evacuating the RTS premises on the night of the bombing.
Noting that the victims' families have a right to expect a transparent and fair investigation and resolution of the case, the OSCE Mission to the FRY expressed its intent to monitor developments in the inquiry. In this context, it urges full co-operation with the victims' families on the part of all concerned actors.
