OSCE Mission supports workshop for Serbian police officers on police training systems in Slovenia and Hungary
BELGRADE, 22 January 2010 - Twenty senior officials from the Serbian Interior Ministry participated in an OSCE-supported workshop on police training systems in Hungary and Slovenia that ended in Belgrade today.
During the two-day workshop, hosted by the OSCE Mission to Serbia, Serbian police representatives discussed best practices used by their counterparts in Slovenia and Hungary, where police training systems have already been restructured.
"The OSCE Mission helps Serbian police learn about different models and ways of managing and delivering police education and training programmes," said Stig Maansson, the OSCE Mission's Police Education Programme Manager.
Damjan Zagar, a Slovenian lecturer at the workshop, added: "Over the past two days, our Serbian colleagues had an opportunity to assess achievements, identify potential changes and chart pathways for the future of the Serbian police training system."
The workshop was part of the OSCE Mission's work to assist Serbia's efforts to establish a sustainable and efficient system of police education and training.
