OSCE Mission to Serbia supports workshop on regional police field training
SREMSKA KAMENICA, Serbia, 15 December 2009 - An OSCE-supported workshop on police field training for 75 police field training co-ordinators began today in northern Serbia.
The OSCE Mission to Serbia and the Interior Ministry organized the two-day workshop to improve the field component of basic police training and strengthen co-operation between the Ministry's Uniform Police Directorate and Basic Police Training Centre in Sremska Kamenica, which is hosting the workshop.
Participants will discuss the findings of the recently published monitoring report on the police field training programme, and its recommendations for the further development of practical activities in this area.
"The police field training officers programme is a vital link between classroom-based training and police operational work," said Stig Maansson, the OSCE Mission's Police Education Programme Manager.
"The work of the co-ordinators is an essential factor to ensure the smooth integration of the training courses graduates into everyday police work."
The OSCE Mission to Serbia supports the Interior Ministry's efforts to modernize the basic police training system.
