Diplomas awarded to 100 Serbian police officers after completing OSCE-supported training programme
SREMSKA KAMENICA, 28 October 2009 - One hundred police officers received diplomas at a graduation ceremony at the Basic Police Training Centre in Sremska Kamenica today after completing an OSCE Mission-supported Trainer Development Programme for trainers, trainer evaluators and curriculum developers.
The programme was conducted by Interior Ministry trainers who previously completed the same training course. Since the start of the programme in 2003, more than 1,000 officers from all areas of the Ministry's work have taken the courses within the Trainer Development Programme.
The OSCE Mission supported delivery of courses at training sites in Zemun, Sremska Kamenica, Bujanovac and most recently in Medvedja.
"The real success of this project has been to build the institutional capacity of the Serbian Interior Ministry in the field of police training. Now the Ministry has sufficient capacity to cascade the programme throughout the country," said Stig Maansson, the OSCE Mission to Serbia's Police Education Programme Manager.
The newly certified police officers will be involved in developing and implementing in-service and specialized training programmes within the Interior Ministry's organizational structures throughout Serbia.
