OSCE Mission organizes training course for TV journalists in Novi Pazar
NOVI PAZAR, Serbia, 5 December 2008 - Sixteen journalists, cameramen and editors are taking part in a workshop on TV journalism that started in Novi Pazar today.
The three-day event, organized by the OSCE Mission to Serbia and the Belgrade TV Academy, was designed to improve the regional TV news coverage.
"We are pleased to respond to the needs of TV outlets in South-Western Serbia and help arrange an exchange of information between the local media and journalists from Belgrade," said Dragana Nikolic Solomon, the Head of the OSCE Mission's Media Department.
The training programme, funded by the British Embassy in Belgrade, is part of the OSCE Mission's efforts to strenghten the professional capacities of local TV stations. The course will focus on local rather than national topics.
"A dynamic and locally focused coverage of news events in South-Western Serbia will largely contribute to a greater confidence in local media, a key condition for any democratic society," said Lila Radonjic, who will deliver the course together with her TV Academy colleagues Marjan Zivanovic, Slaven Miljus and Vladan Radosavljevic.
From 12 to 14 December, the OSCE Mission will organize a follow up workshop in Novi Pazar.
