OSCE Mission to Serbia, Judicial Training Centre organize course on crime scene investigation
BELGRADE, 21 November 2008 - Strengthening the technical capacities of Serbian law enforcement and judiciary institutions is the aim of a training course that starts in Belgrade today.
The two-day course, organized by the OSCE Mission and the Serbian Judicial Training Centre, was designed to help investigators conduct effective analysis of forensic findings used as evidence in court. It brought together some 25 prosecutors, judges and police officers involved in crime scene forensics.
"This course focuses on new methods of data collecting, and on ways to secure, transport and analyze forensic evidence. It will help improve the use of existing technical capacities and ensure that precise forensic findings are presented to the court," said Branko Nikolic, the OSCE Mission's Legal Adviser.
Nenad Vujic, the Director of the Judicial Training Centre, added: "Our Centre may include this training course in our regular curriculum for the next year. We are very grateful to the OSCE Mission for its support and for organizing this specialized course."
In November, the OSCE Mission organized a forensic training course in Nis for judges, prosecutors and police officers in the region.
