OSCE Mission to Serbia head welcomes arrest of war crimes indictee Stojan Zupljanin
BELGRADE, 11 June 2008 - The Head of the OSCE Mission to Serbia, Ambassador Hans Ola Urstad, welcomed today the arrest of war crimes indictee Stojan Zupljanin in Pancevo, near Belgrade.
Zupljanin is indicted for leading and participating in crimes against humanity and war crimes, which included ethnic cleansing of non-Serbs in the Banja Luka region, persecution on ethnic grounds and destruction of cities and villages.
"The arrest of Stojan Zupljanin is very encouraging. The OSCE Mission urges the authorities of Serbia to continue co-operating intensively with the International Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia until all indictees are brought to justice," said Ambassador Urstad.
Three ICTY indictees are still at large, including General Ratko Mladic and the Bosnian Serb wartime political leader Radovan Karadzic.
