OSCE Mission agrees to provide expert assistance on environmental legislation to Serbia
BELGRADE, 10 November 2006 - The Head of the OSCE Mission to Serbia and Serbia's Minister of Science and Environmental Protection agreed that the OSCE Mission would extend expert assistance to develop and implement legislation on environmental protection.
OSCE Mission Head Ambassador Hans Ola Urstad and Minister Aleksandar Popovic specifically included in the agreement reached yesterday that the problem of waste management, saying that this issue is a priority.
"The 6th Pan-European Ministerial Conference on Environmental Protection, which will be held in Belgrade at the beginning of October 2007, could serve as an opportunity to foster Serbia's efforts in dealing with environmental protection," Ambassador Urstad said. "The OSCE Mission is prepared to offer the Serbian government all necessary support in this respect."
Minister Popovic pointed out that Serbia would welcome further co-operation in the field.
