OSCE Senior Council to meet this week in Prague

VIENNA, 23 October 1995 - On Thursday and Friday, 26-27 October, the OSCE Senior Council will be meeting in Prague.
The meeting will open on Thursday with a discussion of "A Common and Comprehensive Security Model for the Twenty-First Century." Meetings on the Security Model, which have taken place on a regular basis within the OSCE since the 1994 Budapest Summit, have concentrated on threat perceptions and explored various challenges to security in the OSCE area. The OSCE Chairman-in-Office will present a progress report on the Security Model to the 7-8 December OSCE Ministerial Council meeting in Budapest, and the results available will be submitted to the 1996 OSCE Summit in Lisbon.
On Friday, 27 October, Hungarian Foreign Minister László Kovács, Chairman-in-Office of the OSCE, will address the meeting, which will focus on the OSCE role in Bosnia-Herzegovina, Croatia and Yugoslavia (Serbia and Montenegro) and in the region.
The Senior Council is responsible discussing and setting OSCE policy and broad budgetary guidelines. The OSCE participating States are encouraged to be represented at the level of political directors or at a corresponding level.
