OSCE organizes study visit of Montenegrin airport officials to Amsterdam’s Schipol Airport
Seven officials from Montenegro’s international airports took part in a study visit to Amsterdam’s Schipol Airport on 28 and 29 November 2019 to learn about the newest techniques and trends in the field of airport security. The visit was organized by the Border Security and Management Unit of the OSCE Transnational Threats Department in close co-operation with the OSCE Mission to Montenegro as well as the Dutch Royal Marechaussee.
The participants learned about systems such as Advanced Passenger Information and Passenger Name Records (API/PNR) and Seamless Passenger Flow as well as how to conduct behavioural analyses and managing E-Gates and Staff- and Passenger-Check-Points.
As stated by a Passenger Information Unit official: “Since the implementation of the EU API Directive in 2007 and the EU PNR Directive in 2019 in The Netherlands, positive developments in relation to the use of passenger information in targeting processes are experienced. Still a grow in receiving passenger data is needed, not only from commercial airlines but also from other transport modalities to be able to provide more security nationally and internationally.”
The study visit concludes an OSCE project on enhancing airport security in Montenegro’s international airports. The project was developed by the OSCE Border Security Management Unit, in close co-operation with the OSCE Mission to Montenegro, and launched in 2017.
