In the digital age, technology serves as both a powerful tool for empowerment and a potential instrument for criminal activities, particularly in human trafficking. Traffickers exploit technological advancements for purposes such as online recruitment, victim control, and transferring illicit proceeds. However, these same technologies present opportunities for law enforcement and civil society to combat trafficking and protect victims. This report summarizes a set of policy recommendations discussed and made by anti-trafficking stakeholders from OSCE participating States during a series of sub-regional workshops organized in 2023 by the Office of the OSCE Special Representative and Co-ordinator for Combating Trafficking in Human Beings.These policy recommendations aim at leveraging technology effectively to counter trafficking.

The three unions- the Cyprus Journalists' Union, Basin-Sen/Press Workers' Union, and the Turkish Cypriot Journalists' Union – participated as panelists at a side event hosted by the Office of the OSCE Representative on Freedom of the Media during a conference on safety of journalists, in Vienna. This publication looks back on and reflects on a highly successful series of expert meetings and related work carried out by the Office of the OSCE Representative on Freedom of the Media as part of the Open Journalism project. The Guide for Municipal Officials on Personal Data Protection and Access to Public Documents is intended for municipal officials who manage access to public documents and the protection and processing of personal data. In 2024, the OSCE and the Information and Privacy Agency in Kosovo launched an initiative to enhance the capacities of these officials through a series of regional workshops. These efforts culminated in the creation of this publication.
