This research report presents an analysis of international legal instruments defining framework of assistance to victims of human trafficking. It outlines the basic conditions and principles to be considered when providing such assistance; describes national legislation that regulates work of social services providing assistance to victims of trafficking; explains consequences of human trafficking and basic needs of victims with due regard to age and gender aspects. The research highlights problems the victims of trafficking and social service providers face in reality and presents recommendations on how to solve those problems. This guidebook is a useful tool for the identification of human trafficking cases. It helps to better understand the consequences of being a victim of this crime. It also provides guidance on how to determine and consider the special needs of victims taking into account age and gender aspects. It contains methodological recommendations on how to provide the assistance needed and better use resources of other social service providers, including community resources. This manual provides guidelines for trainers in customs and border agencies and environmental inspectorates on how to teach about the detection and prevention of illegal transboundary movement of waste, ozone-depleting substances, and rare and endangered animal and plant species. The manual also contains general recommendations on teaching and practical exercises. Each copy is accompanied by a set of photos for exercises on waste identification and a CD with a volume of information on the aforementioned topics. Available in English and Russian.

Selection of visual materials to help introduce the meaning of fundamental human rights to junior audiences. The Publication is a supplement to “Handbook on human rights for children: manual for teachers and trainers”. Not available in English.

The handbook provides an in-depth analysis of ten fundamental human rights, such as the right to life, right to fair and equal treatment, the right to liberty and security of person and others. The book highlights the origin of those rights and history of their evolution, it explains their meaning and presents an overview of liability for violations. The handbook uses interactive methods to meet the needs of primary (6-12 years) and secondary (13-18 years) school children. Special attention is paid to practical exercises designed to help children understand the nature of human rights in practice. The publication is aimed at teachers, professors, lawyers and all those interested in human rights seeking to raise awareness of human rights among children, and is not available in English.

These Guidelines were jointly prepared by the OSCE Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights (OSCE/ODIHR) and by the Council of Europe’s Venice Commission and adopted by the Venice Commission at its 125th online Plenary Session (11–12 December 2020).
