OSCE Programme Office in Dushanbe holds roundtable discussion on the role of men to support the advancement of women

A one-day roundtable discussion on how to support women’s increased participation in decision making in Tajikistan and how men can play a role in that concluded in Dushanbe on 6 March 2018. The event was organized on the eve of International Women’s Day.
Twenty-five participants, including men and women politicians, parliamentarians, young gender champions and civil society representatives, took part in the discussion organized by the OSCE Programme Office in Dushanbe.
Vesna Ivanovikj-Castarede, Gender and Anti-Trafficking Officer at the OSCE Programme Office, said: “The role of men in supporting the advancement of women and girls in public and political life is especially significant on the eve of International Women’s Day, when both men and women are reminded of the need for joint efforts to achieve gender equality.”
Throughout 2018 the Office will support the members of the Tajik Men Engage network and Tajik gender champions youth network, who participated in the event, to continue discussions on issues such as education and career opportunities for girls from rural areas and the eradication of domestic violence.
