Kyrgyzstan hosts the third international trade exhibition “South-Expo 2019”
Promoting regional trade and co-operation in the Central Asian region is an important part of the OSCE’s confidence building in the area of economic and environmental activities. Over 1,500 entrepreneurs arrived in Osh to participate at the third international trade exhibition “South-Expo”, a two-day event that concluded on 12 September 2019.
Since its inception in 2017, South-Expo has become an established platform providing a unique opportunity for producers and manufacturers to present their products, expand their business opportunities, and strengthen their position in international supply chains. These activities, in turn, contribute to the overall development of the Central Asian region. This year’s South-Expo expanded its network of participants and brought together entrepreneurs from Afghanistan, China, India, Kuwait, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Tajikistan, and Uzbekistan.
South-Expo 2019 was organized by the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Kyrgyz Republic, the Plenipotentiary Representation of the Government of the Kyrgyz Republic in Osh province and the Osh Mayor’s Office, with the support of the OSCE Programme Office in Bishkek.
As a side event to South-Expo 2019, participants took part in the first International Business Forum, where Kyrgyzstani producers presented investment projects in areas such as agriculture, processing, energy, construction, tourism and light industry. These investment projects are designed to stimulate regional economic development, targeting the promotion of Public-Private Partnerships. Moreover, domestic manufacturers conducted a series of business-to-business negotiations with representatives of foreign companies. This platform serves as an effective tool for building up trade and economic co-operation in the future.
The OSCE Programme Office in Bishkek places high importance on the implementation of the Government’s priorities for economic development. It supports, in particular, the state agencies and other stakeholders, including young entrepreneurs, in fostering development in the provinces of Kyrgyzstan.
