OSCE supports anti-corruption conference in Kazakhstan
An OSCE-supported international conference on modern anti-corruption standards and international co-operation took place on 8 December 2017 in Astana.
The one-day event, organized by the Anti-Corruption and Civil Service Affairs Agency in co-operation with the OSCE Programme Office in Astana, brought together some 250 representatives, including high-level government officials and representatives of Kazakhstan’s Parliament, law enforcement agencies, civil society, embassies and international organizations.
OSCE-supported experts from Austria, Belgium, and Germany shared international best practices, including examples of successful strategies for corruption prevention as well as mechanisms for effective inter-state co-operation. The participants also discussed the specific steps made by Kazakhstan to address assumed international obligations on combating corruption and on enhancing the role of private and civil sectors to ensure public funds oversight.
The activity is part of the Office’s multi-year efforts to promote good governance by focussing on anti-corruption activities in Kazakhstan.
