Ambassador Bernd Borchardt
Ambassador Bernd Borchardt is Head of the OSCE Presence in Albania since 1 October 2016. He is a senior German diplomat with broad experience in South Eastern Europe. From 2007 to 2010, he served as Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Germany in Albania, and for the following two years was Coordinator for German Personnel in International Organizations in the German Foreign Ministry.
From 2013 to 2014, Ambassador Borchardt headed the EULEX mission in Kosovo, where he also worked in 1998-1999 as Deputy Head of the OSCE Kosovo Verification Mission. In 2014, Ambassador Borchardt became the Founding Director of the International Nuremberg Principles Academy, until his appointment as Head of the OSCE Presence in Albania.
Earlier in his career, he held diplomatic posts in Romania, Estonia, South Africa and Guinea.
Ambassador Borchardt studied Psychology and Law. He speaks German, English and French.
