OSCE launches regional Youth Trail initiative with Tirana Municipality to promote democratic values among young people
The OSCE Presence in Albania is inviting prospective candidates to apply for its Youth Trail initiative, a programme aiming to promote the OSCE values of democracy, co-operation, peace and security among young people in the Western Balkans.
The initiative will see 40 young people from Western Balkan countries come to Tirana on 13-17 September for a programme of training and discussion sessions as well as social and outdoor activities in and around the Albanian capital.
Speaking at the ceremony to launch the initiative, which was attended by Tirana Mayor Erion Veliaj, the Head of the OSCE Presence in Albania, Ambassador Bernd Borchardt, urged young people from the region to apply.
“Young people can play an important role as actors of change,” Ambassador Borchardt said. “I invite you to see this new initiative as an opportunity to find solutions for shared challenges. I share with you the hope and the feeling that we can all create a better future together.”
The online application process is open until 13 August.
The initiative is being held in co-operation with the Municipality of Tirana, the Austrian Development Agency (ADA) and the Regional Youth Cooperation Office (RYCO). It is also part of a series of activities organized to mark the 20th anniversary of the OSCE Presence in Albania.
