Recruitment for elections in Serbia

Following indications that an invitation to observe the pre-term presidential election in Serbia scheduled for 20 January 2008 is forthcoming, and based on previous findings and conclusions of election observation missions, especially those related to the conduct of election day, the OSCE/ODIHR has decided to deploy a limited election observation mission (LEOM) to Serbia for this election. In this respect, the OSCE/ODIHR is currently looking for external consultants to fill the following positions in the core team:
- Head of Mission
- Deputy Head of Mission
- Election Analyst
- Political Analyst
- Legal Analyst
- Media Analyst
- Co-ordinator of Long-Term Observers
- Logistics Expert
- Security Expert
Procedure
All assignments are temporarily recruited posts, and most of them will be for approximately five weeks considering that a second round may be required. Candidates should be available from approximately 3 January 2008 and must be available to depart for Serbia at short notice. Candidates must be citizens of OSCE participating States, excluding citizens of Serbia. For more information about the responsibilities and requirements of each post, please read the terms of reference in the "Overview of core team positions", under the links to the right. Please complete the following steps in order to apply:
- Register in the OSCE/ODIHR's election experts database. If you have already registered, please move on to the next steps.
- Send an email to serbia-elections@odihr.pl indicating the position for which you are applying. Please note that you can apply for a maximum of two core team positions.
- Attach a motivation letter and a completed application form or recent Curriculum Vitae.
The deadline for applications is 10.00 CET, 21 December 2007. Applications received after this date, as well as applicants who have not registered in the OSCE/ODIHR election expert database and who do not attach all required documents, will not be considered. Only selected candidates will be contacted. The OSCE is an equal opportunity organization and encourages applications from female candidates and representatives of national minorities.
Remuneration will depend on qualifications and experience, and will be in accordance with established OSCE rates. Travel expenses will be covered by the OSCE/ODIHR in accordance with the OSCE travel policy.
Long-term observers
OSCE participating States will be requested to second long-term observers. Should you wish to become a long-term observer, please contact your respective OSCE delegation in Vienna or your Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
