The first of its kind, the Warsaw meeting reviewed the then 53 participating States' implementation of the full range of OSCE Human Dimension commitments from 27 September to 15 October.
380 participants came from participating States, the former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia, Mediterranean partner states Egypt and Morocco, as well as international and non-governmental organizations.
Discussions focused on the following topics:
- freedom of thought, conscience and religion
- freedom of expression and free media
- freedom of association and peaceful assembly
- freedom of movement, education and culture
- review of the Human Dimension of the CSCE
Since 1993, Human Dimension Implementation Meetings have been organized and carried out by the Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights. These two-week meetings are held in years when no Summit and its preceding Review Conference take place.
