OSCE engages young professionals in the Water-Energy-Food Nexus in Tajikistan
Where
On 6-7 June 2024, the OSCE, in partnership with Switzerland, organized the workshop “Drops of the Future” on the Water-Energy-Food (WEF) Nexus in Vahdat, Tajikistan and subsequently contributed to the “3rd Dushanbe Water Action Decade Conference” on 10-13 June 2024. The workshop brought together more than 40 young professionals from various sectors, including members of the Women in Water Management Network in Central Asia.
It provided a platform for dialogue and experience exchange aiming to co-create a future-oriented vision for sustainable development through the WEF lens. With the support from Representatives from FAO, The Economist Impact, SIWI, CAREC, Geneva Water Hub and the SUEN Turkish Water Institute, participants engaged in facilitated discussions and collaborative exercises. They identified building blocks for a joint vision, explored innovative technical solutions and examined water use patterns in agricultural production.
The outcomes of the workshop were shared at the 3rd Dushanbe Water Action Decade Conference through several high-level platforms, including:
- Youth and Children’s Water and Climate Forum, organized by UNICEF
- Women and Water Forum, organized by UN Women
- Side-Event “Fostering Cooperation in Education and Science to promote IWRM: Novel Approaches to Capacity Building and Development” co-organized by OSCE in co-operation with the Tajik Ministry of Water and Energy Resources.
