OSCE makes donation to Tajik NGO and orphanage
DUSHANBE, 25 February 2008 - The OSCE donated 7,000 euros today to the Tajik non-governmental organization Nasli Navras, which supports disabled children, and a dormitory for orphan girls run by the State Women's Affairs Committee. The funds were raised by the Organization's staff members during an event in Vienna this month.
"The OSCE offers this humble donation to the people of Tajikistan affected by the unusually severe winter," said Ambassador Herbert Salber, the Director of the OSCE Conflict Prevention Centre. "We are prepared to further assist the Government of Tajikistan if requested."
The donation was made at a reception, hosted by the OSCE Centre in Dushanbe, following an OSCE-Tajikistan Task Force meeting that discussed ways to further assist the country.
"This donation is a clear example of the good will of the OSCE as an organization, and the individuals working for it," said Khayrinisso Yusufi, the Head of the State Women's Affairs Committee.
