This news conference will outline future joint anti-corruption activities by the Mission to Montenegro and its partners.
The event will be addressed by the Deputy Head of the OSCE Mission to Montenegro, Waldemar Figaj; the Head of the Anti-Corruption Initiative Directorate, Vesna Ratkovic, and the Head of the Public Procurement Directorate, Mersad Mujevic.
The activities planned under the OSCE Mission's anti-corruption initiative, which is funded by the Government of Liechtenstein, will focus on two areas:
- Providing expert training on the implementation of the new Public Procurement Law, and extending this training to some 200-300 procurement officers employed in governmental institutions and local self-government.
- Capacity-building activities for the Anti-Corruption Initiative Directorate to promote and prevent corruption in Montenegro, with special emphasis on the Directorate's Promotional and Preventive Activities Department to assist it in carrying out its newly-established function of dealing with public complaints.
The training plan has already been developed and will start on 23 April 2009.
