OSCE Mission supports discussion on broadcasting of parliament sessions
PODGORICA, 1 July 2008 - The OSCE Mission to Montenegro will support the Montenegrin Parliament's roundtable discussion on broadcasting of parliamentary sessions to be held on 7 and 8 July in Podgorica.
The event, "Broadcasting of Parliament Sessions - International Practices and Experiences", will bring together Montenegrin and regional parliamentarians, public broadcasters and media professionals. High-level representatives from the European Broadcasting Union and the OSCE Representative on Freedom of Media have been invited to take part.
"The OSCE is not here to impose solutions, rather to facilitate and support a discussion, by providing international expertise. By analyzing different national practices in the field Montenegro can identify a way forward in covering the activities of the Parliament in the interests of the general public," said Ambassador Paraschiva Badescu, the Head of the OSCE Mission.
Montenegro's public broadcaster RTCG announced in May that, due to financial reasons, it could no longer provide live coverage of all parliamentary sessions.
