OSCE supports training course on gender equality for university students in Montenegro
Standards in gender equality, the relevant legal framework, gender-sensitive language, the portrayal of women in the media, and the representation of women in political life were the focus of a training course for university students in Podgorica, organized by the OSCE Mission to Montenegro on 20-21 November 2015.
Twelve students from Podgorica attended the event, providing a platform for sharing knowledge and experiences, and enabling the students to gain a greater understanding of the gender equality issues. They also explored the basics of gender mainstreaming in different areas of public and political life.
The Head of the Department for Gender Equality in the Ministry for Human and Minority Rights Biljana Pejović said: “Diverse issues affecting the youth, from discrimination in employment, to child marriage, to unequal representation in political life, are all products of deep-rooted gender inequality.”
She emphasized the need to work more with all stakeholders, including youth, in order to promote gender equality and gender mainstreaming in all areas of life.
