OSCE pledges support to further reform processes in Montenegro
Head of the OSCE Mission to Montenegro, Ambassador Janina Hrebickova, met on 22 June 2015 Montenegrin Deputy Prime Minister Dusko Markovic to discuss further engagement of OSCE and its continued support to Montenegro in the implementation of its key strategic national priorities.
The Mission’s activities in the forthcoming period will be directed towards improvement of co-ordination among institutions but also their communication with media and citizens. Furthermore, the issue of consolidation of law enforcement institutions and further development of awareness of the human rights and gender issues in the security sector reforms have been addressed.
Ambassador Hrebickova and Deputy Prime Minister Markovic agreed that communication and co-operation between OSCE and the Government of Montenegro in the previous period was efficient and fruitful.
“Montenegro has achieved visible progress in key areas such as straightening the rule of law, legislation and reform of security sector, and therefore the Mission will focus its activities towards achieving a more effective and efficient use of the financial and human resources available, in line with the host country’s needs and strategic priorities,” said Ambassador Hrebickova.
Markovic said that co-operation in the development of new legislation has produced results. “Now there are new institutions in place that need to be developed further in terms of professional capacity and efficiency and that is where it would be necessary to continue the excellent co-operation with the OSCE.”
