OSCE Mission to Montenegro participated in Security Forum in Budva
Serbia’s 2015 OSCE Chairmanship, the OSCE’s Conflict Prevention Centre and the OSCE Missions to Bosnia and Herzegovina and to Montenegro participated in the fifth 2BS Security Forum on "The Future Perspectives of a Global Security Architecture" held from 4 to 6 June 2015 in Budva, Montenegro.
The 2BS Forum is a high-level international conference on security issues organized by the Atlantic Council of Montenegro, under the auspices of the Government of Montenegro, in partnership with NATO and the United States Embassy in Podgorica. It brings together high-level government and international officials and experts to discuss major international and regional security challenges.
The OSCE Chairperson-in-Office and Serbian Foreign Minister Ivica Dačić talked about the crisis in and around Ukraine, security challenges, terrorism threats and the importance of conflict prevention.
Director of the OSCE’s Conflict Prevention Centre, Ambassador Adam Kobieracki, elaborated on the OSCE’s presence in Ukraine, emphasizing that the Special Monitoring Mission is an unarmed, civilian mission, observing and reporting objectively, helping to build and maintain dialogue among and between communities.
Head of the OSCE Mission to Montenegro, Ambassador Janina Hrebickova, said: “The OSCE’s strength lay in its field operations, allowing the Organization to engage in crisis prevention, conflict resolution and peace building. This helps to raise the relevance of the Organization in the European security architecture. It is crucial to jointly engage with all relevant international organizations and other partners to discuss and address the new security threats.”
Head of the OSCE Mission to BiH, Ambassador Jonathan Moore, highlighted that the issue of violent extremism and foreign fighters is one of the most specific threats to stability and security and requires a comprehensive approach in addressing it.
