OSCE Mission to Montenegro and partners to raise awareness of road safety for children

PODGORICA, 31 August 2014 – A media campaign aiming to raise awareness of road and traffic safety, particularly among children, has been launched by the OSCE Mission to Montenegro and its partners. The campaign will run from 31 August to 30 September 2014.
The campaign will draw attention to the importance of children’s traffic safety, especially those of primary school age. As well as targeting children, the campaign aims to raise awareness among drivers, parents, educators, civil sector and the media.
The campaign intends to inform, engage and educate. Through partnerships with national institutions, including traffic and community policing officers, the civil sector and media as a crucial partner, the message will have strong outreach.
The Mission supported a short movie, which will be broadcast on all TV and radio stations. In addition, DVDs of the movie will be sent to all elementary schools and kindergartens in Montenegro for screenings.
The project is organized by the OSCE Mission to Montenegro together with the Ministries of Interior, of Education, of Transport and Maritime Affairs, of Labour and Social Welfare as well as the Police Directorate, the NGO Alfa Centre, the NGO Association of Parents, the NGO Association of Drivers and the Union of Municipalities.
Alfa Centre, one of the partners of the campaign, will facilitate field lectures and workshops in the municipalities which have joined the campaign: Bar, Budva, Kotor, Herceg Novi, Tivat, Niksic, Danilovgrad, Mojkovac. These municipalities have also purchased traffic safety books for first grade pupils, which will be presented to them as a gift.
