OSCE Mission to Montenegro supports coastal clean-up campaign

The OSCE Mission to Montenegro supported the country’s biggest voluntary clean-up of illegal dumpsites during a special campaign held on 10 May 2014.
Illegal dumpsites at more than 40 locations throughout six coastal municipalities were cleared as part of the “Let’s do it! Mediterranean” campaign led locally by the non-governmental organization, ADP Zid.
The campaign aims to draw attention to pollution in the Mediterranean Sea and encourage communities to work together to clean up the coastline. Studies show that contamination of the Mediterranean Sea is very high and the level of plastic waste is beyond critical.
The OSCE Mission supported the campaign in the municipalities of Kotor and Tivat.
The campaign was held in 21 countries along the Mediterranean coast.
