OSCE supports jazz workshops in Transdniestria

Students of the Rubinstein Musical College in Tiraspol could enjoy jamming with world class jazz musicians in the framework of a workshop, supported by the OSCE Mission to Moldova on 21 September 2012.

Soweto Entsha from South Africa and the Gustav Lundgren Trio from Sweden performed and jammed with some 100 students and teachers.

“One shouldn’t underestimate the importance of art, fun and creativity,” said the Head of the OSCE Mission, Ambassador Jennifer Brush. “With these workshops, we were able to spread the festival to the other side of the river, to let young people, budding musicians, meet and interact with jazz professionals.”

Swedish jazz guitarist Gustav Lundgren said: “It was a great experience to come to Moldova and Transdniestria and play with these kids.”

The workshop was a part of the Ethno Jazz Festival of Moldova. The workshops in Tiraspol were its first stage event on the left bank of the Dniester / Nistru river.
