OSCE trains online journalists on both sides of Nistru/Dniestr River
VADUL-LUI-VODĂ, Moldova, 29 November 2011 – Journalistic and managerial skills for running sustainable Internet media are the focus of a two-day OSCE training seminar that started today in Vadul-lui-Vodă, a town on the Nistru/Dniestr River outside of Chişinău.
“The Internet offers unparalleled opportunities for sharing information and exercising media freedom. As internet-based media continues to grow worldwide, we are glad to offer participants the best international experience in editorial and managerial components of a successful online news portal,” said Dunja Mijatović, the OSCE Representative on Freedom of the Media, in a message to participants.
Twenty journalists and media managers from both sides of the Nistru/Dniestr River are taking part in the course. International and local experts will share best practices of online journalism and ways to expand and better serve audiences in small markets.
The event is organized jointly by the Office of the OSCE Representative on Freedom of the Media and the Mission to Moldova, and is funded by the Lithuanian OSCE Chairmanship and the Norwegian government.
