OSCE-supported summer seminar to build trust among communities

Seventy young people from both sides of the Dniestr/Nistru River are participating in a summer school in Molovata Noua, Moldova, from 7 to 17 July 2011. The school aims to raise awareness among young people of the role of civil society in dealing with environmental issues.
The programme includes excursions, discussions, lectures and activities such as role-play exercises, in which the participants play the parts of Moldovan, Ukrainian and Transdniestrian officials, members of civil society and journalists. The school is run by the Moldovan non-governmental organization Eco-TIRAS, and staffed by volunteers from environmental organizations on both river banks.
The environmental school has been partly sponsored by the OSCE Mission to Moldova’s Conflict Prevention and Resolution Programme for the past three years.
