OSCE Moldova Mission to monitor youth organization's court case against Tiraspol city administration

Tiraspol, 13 February 2009 - The Head of the OSCE Mission to Moldova, Ambassador Philip Remler, announced today that at the request of Transnistrian youth organization Proryv!, the Mission will monitor the court case initiated by Proryv! against the Tiraspol city administration.

Proryv! filed a complaint that the city administration is not allowing it to picket the Tiraspol office of the OSCE Mission.

"The OSCE takes no position in the immediate case at hand, which is under adjudication," said Remler. "However, the OSCE supports in principle the right of peaceful assembly to protest, including the right to protest against us."

Proryv! has in the past organized numerous demonstrations in front of the Tiraspol office of the OSCE Mission to Moldova.
