OSCE Mission announces Moldova photo contest
CHISINAU, 15 November 2007 - The OSCE Mission to Moldova announced today a photo contest aimed at exploring the diversity, traditions and modern developments of life in Moldova.
Ambassador Louis O'Neill, Head of the OSCE Mission to Moldova, invited professional and amateur photographers in the country to take part in the contest, which has the theme "Imaging Moldova - Diversity and Identity".
"This event gives photographers from Moldova a unique opportunity to share their views and talents, and will raise the visibility of documentary photography in Moldova," he said.
O'Neill emphasized that the contest was part of the Mission's efforts to strengthen free and professional media in Moldova: "This event combines our tradition of holding monthly arts exhibitions with our day-to-day work in the media field."
An independent jury of well-known and respected Moldovan journalists, artists and professionals in photography will select the winners. The top three photographs will be awarded with cash prizes and the best 50 photographs will be exhibited at the Mission from 14 December to 4 January 2008.
